Comment : Hi Thank you so much for your informed web site I have learnt a lot just from using your pages and your links. I found you on youtube.com. It's really hard to learn about this kind of pest control "the does and don'ts". I'm only starting out. It's not a subject most people want to talk about. Question? When I kill a rabbit, rat, pigeon and don't want to eat it (rabbit) what should I do with the bodies, gut them and leave them? Many thanks Dave

Answer : Thank you for your entry I have on the odd occasion left shot pests near a fox den, but the majority is taken home and disposed of properly many cut the turf and bury them under it in the field, but they shouldn't be left for someone (or their dog) to find there's nothing nice about a dog finding a dead animal and rolling about on it, or eating it then going home and bringing it back up on the carpet

Comment : Is the Falcon running at 12ft/lb? If so, very disappointed to read that you use it to shoot at foxes. Only read the one hunting story, which put me off reading the rest.
Site rating : 1/10 Very poor
06 March 2007 11:20:41
Answer : Thank you for your entry Yes it is 12ft/lb the foxes were shot, not shot at One humane shot, producing a clean kill, as I'm required by UK law to do This is part of pest control, and as the warning said on the front page, if you don't like, don't look!

Comment : An excellent website, very informative and just one man trying to help a multitude to hunt. I am new to England. Quite familiar with firearms but not much with air rifles. I am planning to buy a Weihrauch HW77/97 K. Which calibre do you suggest for rabbit hunting,.22 or .177? Also, is there a way I could find out places I could hunt rabbits on near Coventry? I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.
Site rating : 10/10 Excellent
09 February 2007 21:38:53
Answer : Thank you for your entry Personally, I'd suggest a .22 for rabbits .177 are excellent for penetration (such as corvids & pigeons) when you have to get through the feathers before causing the fatal blow I've experimented with .22 and .177 on a dead squirrel laid on a tree stump @ 20 yards the .177 went straight through the head and the squirrel barely moved the .22 went straight through the head, but the squirrel was also knocked off the stump, and landed almost a metre away A method I use is multimap.co.uk and view it in Overlay mode this allows you to find likely places, and then you can go knocking on doors (asking in person is the only way to gain to permission) Hope this helps

Comment : Hi Andy Just been getting some good advice from your website, I am looking into purchasing a multi-shot air riffle with silencer and scopes in order to deal with a rabbit problem on my local golf course, I noticed the problem last year and no one believes that this has been dealt with for this golf season so here is hoping I can get some sort of agreement with them as I also know a market butcher who is willing to take those darn Bugs Bunnies off of my hands, (at a price of course. Any ideas on how I could approach the club more successfully and "have some fun" at the same time, I have used air rifles in the past but many years ago, I thought a Gunpower Stealth Euro Hunter kit, OR a BSA Superten Carbine Realtree Combo, (what do you think Andy) Any advice or guidance would be appreciated, I also live just minutes away from Christchurch gun Club, great setting and suggest that if anyone is in the area they visit the place, all are made welcome, guests just simply turn up and make their selves known to the members, "have fun" (6 out of ten on the site rating, my reason, WELL we can all seek to improve things in our lives)
Site rating : 6/10 Above average

Answer : Thank you for your entry The problem I find with Golf Clubs is their safety concerns regarding air rifles, last thing they want is members thinking they are being shot at, or worse, getting shot. My local Golf Club only allows ferreting around the greens, fairways and club house (fear of damage to members' cars). But depending on the layout, they may allow shooting off the course. The man you need to see is the Head Green keeper, go see him and explain how you are a valuable asset to the club, what methods you intend to use, and don't forget to mention that you are willing to work with him in controlling the pests. Good luck. With regards to your choice of rifles, it's personal choice. Handle your shortlist, and see what feels right. A rifle should hopefully be a once in a lifetime purchase, and buying something you're not comfortable with will only spoil your enjoyment, and your accuracy. Hope this helps.

Answer : Thank you for your entry Gaining permission is something only you can do It can take a lot of knocking on farmer's doors to get that 1st piece of land. Good luck! The Webley Exocet is capable of killing rabbits, but I recommend getting it tuned as it only produces around 10.5ft/lb, but can be tuned to almost 12ft/lb Hope this helps

Answer : Thank you for your entry Shame you felt the need to hide your name and use a bogus email address. My tales are true accounts of my hunting trips, I tell it as it is, and I have nothing to hide. Shame you only rated my site as 1/10, when you thought they were great to read. Squirrels are very easy to see in October, it's the movement that attracts your attention, then when you spot the squirrel, the shot is taken when it pauses in the open.

I also enjoy the sport of air gun hunting and culling but I'm finding it difficult to find somewhere in my area where I can partake in this sport as I am new to the area. you have managed to cover all aspects very well and hope to be able to build an album/photo diary of my own along with my lurcher bitch Saskia who is also looking forward to a bit of the sport herself. I would be very grateful if u could point me in the right direction. PS I off road and fly for brown too.

Could you tell me why this is if I don't hear from you by 08:00 Monday 20/03/2006 I will inform the BASC of this link and it's obvious inconsistency Regards M

Answer : Thank you for your entry As you rightly quoted from the BASC's website they RECOMMEND those listed as suitable quarry It also says; Always ensure that your air rifle is suitably powered for the quarry you intend to shoot and do not attempt a shot of more than 35 metres. and Always despatch wounded quarry quickly and with the minimum of suffering. With a headshot at less than 10 yards, there was no suffering, and no second shot needed, although it is frowned upon by many, no law was broken
