General Notes: My Granddad Thomas Stones told me that his mother Mary Alice Whittaker had a previous marriage and that he had 4 siblings that he never met.

Mary Alice and Thomas Stones moved to Halifax when he was very young, and he grew up at Mixenden Stones, Halifax.

He knew that Harry was his half/step brother, but classed him as his brother as they grew up together at Mixenden Stones, Halifax and they stayed in contact until death.

My mother Jennifer Susan Stones used to visit her grandmother Mary Alice when she lived on Straight Lane, Mixenden (house now demolished for road improvements).

STONES - On September 26, 2004, peacefully in the Calderdale Royal Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family, Gladys, aged 80 years, dearly loved wife of Tom, much loved mum of Linda and Jennie, a dear mother-in-law of Bryan and Les, a devoted grandma to Lisa, Andrew, Angela, Gareth, David and their families, a dear sister to Jack, Christine, and the late Bob, a loved auntie and good friend to many. The funeral service will be held at the Halifax Parish Church, on Friday, October 1, at 2:30 pm, followed by committal and cremation at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland.
Family flowers only, please, by request, donations, in lieu, if so desired, may be given to Overgate Hospice, a donation plate will be available in church for this purpose or sent c/o Lawrence Funeral Service, Green Hayes, Bell Hall, Halifax. Would friends please accept this intimation and meet at the church.
