Under Construction Under Construction

aged 9 month aged 13 month aged 4 years 8 months aged 4 years 8 months

On 7th November 1999, Flash arrived into the world.

She was bred by a friend, who had taken 3 crossings to get the correct strain he wanted.

She stands 23" at the shoulder and works well to the air rifle and with ferrets.

Her father was a full Saluki, her mother a Deerhound X Beardie collie X Greyhound

Flash's ancestors

On 11th July 2004, I took Flash to her 1st lurcher show, in Flimby, Cumbria. She didn't get anywhere in the ring, but the lure coursing was a different kettle of fish.

We were stood about 10 yards down the sideline watching the 1st race, and my wife had hold of Flash on her slip lead.

This was the 1st time Flash had ever seen a lure, and she showed good promise.

The lure raced passed, and Flash lunged on the lead, then the 4 dogs raced passed and she lunged again. The lead knocked against my wife's leg, the collar released, and Flash set off in pursuit.

She overtook the racing lurchers and crossed the line 1st.

I called her, she returned and I changed her collar & lead while we watched the races until her turn.

Time arrived for Flash to race.

The slip lead was put back on, and Flash was taken to the start line where she had a muzzle put on (also a 1st for her)

The lure set off, the dogs were released.

Flash's collar didn't release, so my wife untangled it from the muzzle.

Flash set off in pursuit, caught up to the other dog, overtook, then decided to look for me.

She stopped, ran round in a circle searching for me, I called her, and she was back on course.

She got a 2nd place for her troubles.

I am now looking for somewhere local with a lure, so she can practice.

On 28th August 2004, I took Flash to her 2nd lurcher show, at Ogden, Halifax, West Yorkshire.

I entered her in Rough Bitch under 24" where she got 2nd place,

and Rabbiting for small lurchers but she didn't place.
